ABLD 2AE3 - Introduction to Afro-Environmentalism

This course, using interdisciplinary approaches, critically explores the multifaceted dimensions of the impact, risks, vulnerabilities, and adaptation to climate change and natural disasters for black communities in Africa and the diaspora. It explores the human capacity to cope with a wide range of environmental conditions vis a vis modernization, technological advancement, and their livelihood security. The course introduces students to the issue around environmental racism and justice as well as indigenous adaptive strategies, the challenges, and opportunities for sustainable futures for black communities.
