Live coding is an artistic and cultural practice in which programs are created and modified on-the-fly, in front of an audience, to produce music, visuals, animation, etc. In this course, we’ll learn several different live coding languages, use them to make performances for each other, learn about broader intersections of art and computing, and explore the possibility for computers and programming languages to be vehicles for improvisation. The course will take place in the Networked Imagination Laboratory, offering the chance for exchange and learning together with artists and experimenters from the local community and around the world.
No prior experience with music, live coding, programming, etc. is required.
